City Manager's Budget Message - December 13, 2004 The City Manager is the head of city government, and is responsible to the City Council for the administration of the affairs of the city, and carrying out the policies of the City Council. Duties:
Services Provided: Reservations for Meeting Rooms at City Hall can be made by calling this office. Rooms available are as follows:
Placement of Items on the City Council Agendas can be arranged by calling this office and following up with a written request. Council Meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month and the deadline for submission of any items is 12:00 noon on the Friday prior to the meeting. Information for the Mayor and City Council Members can be dropped off if necessary. Council Members do not stop by on a regular basis, but packets are delivered to them every Friday and correspondence can be forwarded to them from this office. Charters, City Plans, and Excerpts from City's Code of Ordinances (copies of ...) are available through this office: Photocopies are $ .05 per sheet/single side City Plans 5.00 per copy City Charters 3.00 per copy Assistant Manager/Tax Collector Beverlee Pembroke Hill 802-223-9512 or 802-223-9502 bhill@montpelier-vt.org Responsibilities include working as legislative liason, collector of delinquent taxes and assisting the City Manager. Taxes become delinquent the day after the due date. Taxes due on a Saturday, Sunday or Holiday, are not due until the next business day, and become delinquent on the day after. City Council policy does not allow for grace periods or waiving of the late fees. Late fees are 8% incurred the day after the due date with interest at the rate of 1% per month or any portion thereof for the first three months and 1 1/2% per month or any portion thereof each month thereafter. There is also a 50 cent war to any water and sewer billings of the City. Official U.S. postmarks are accepted if they bear the due date. METERED MARKS are not accepted if a U.S. postmark shows a later posted date. There is a drop box across the police department which is available until midnight on the due date. Anything placed in there after midnight, will be deemed late and subject to the above fees. It is suggested that if you wait until the last day to mail your payments that you not rely on your home or business carrier, or local post boxes. You should take your envelope and ask to have the date hand stamped and verified by you. City Hall Art Display Cases: If you'd like the name and telephone number of the current Curator, please call!
