PARKS Mill Pond Park -- .2 acres
Background
Partners in the creation of Mill Pond Park: Support for this project was generously provided by the VT Housing & Conservation Board, as well as the State of Vermont’s Land and Water Conservation Fund. Additional 2005 Volunteers: Jane Werly: a huge help planning and planting the Mill Pond park; Tino Obrien: Stone bench hero, key person in making the beautiful stone bench in the Mill Pond park; Tony Facos: diving help to clean up the river near the mill pond park; Staff from the Trust for Public Lands who volunteered half a day on the Mill Pond Park. Description Montpelier's Mill Pond Park is located on the east side of Elm Street (Route 12), approximately 1/4 mile north of the Elm Street Cemetery. The park has severla hundred feet of frontage on the North Branch River, and includes a boat launch, numerous wooden benches, and a beautiful set of stone steps that also serve as a river viewing bench. Vegetation & Habitat The Mill Pond Park is small, but it boasts several large Elm trees, and a small riparian plant community along the bank of the North Branch River.
