17 V.S.A. ยง 2640. Annual meetings

(a) A meeting of the legal voters of each town shall be held annually on the first Tuesday of March for the election of officers and the transaction of other business.

Voter Checklist Deadline
Monday, February 27, 2008, at noon is the deadline for applying to have your name added to the voter checklist for the Annual City Meeting. The City Clerk's Office will be open for regular hours from 8am - 5:00pm on February 27, 2008.

Absentee Voter Ballots
Ballots are available at the city clerk's office. If you would like to vote early or expect to be absent, you may come in and vote at the Clerk's Office at City Hall, 39 Main Street, or call the City Clerk's Office at 223-9500 and have your ballot mailed to you. Ballots must be recieved by the close of the voting day on March 4, 2008.

As soon as the ballot items have been determined, sample ballots will be available below in Adobe Acrobat Reader format.
Each ballot has three pages, the file size is about 470 KB.

District 1       District 2       District 3

The only difference between the ballots for the different districts is in the race for Council Person. Each district has a different candidates running for City Council Member for that particular district.

Petitions
Petitions for candidates for a city office must have been be filed with the City Clerk's Office between the dates of January 24, 2008 and February 4, 2008. A petition information sheet for 2008 is available at the City Clerk's Office.

Petitions for an item to be placed on the ballot for annual meeting must be filed with the City Clerk's Office by January 24, 2008.
