The trail from the tower to 7 Fireplaces has been "snow farmed" (snow brought in from the side of the trail to cover icy spots) and groomed. The side of trail from the tower almost all the way to 7 fireplaces (the left side of the trail as you walk to the tower from Hubbard Park Drive gate) was groomed and is surprisingly nice for walking. Currently ungroomed trails are in poor condition for skiing and marginal for walking. Yaktracks or other grippers for footwear recommended. Be careful, there are many icy, slippery and dangerous spots. Please have the proper footwear.
Ice On Fire Event
At the North Branch Nature Center, January 29th from 2pm-5pm.
Deep winter ceremonies, a parade of sorts, winter games, blanket toss, story-telling, singing, skiing, snowshoeing and a bonfire! The weather was great and there was a wonderful turn out! Thanks to all who helped!
Photos of Ice on Fire in the past:
Near the end of the event,

for a structurally sound igloo.
The crew after a good day's work; one igloo is up, one more to go.
