    Green Mountain Transit Authority

    The Chittenden County Transportation Authority began operations in the Central Vermont area on Monday, April 28, 2003 as the Green Mountain Transit Authority (GMTA), private not-for-profit agency in partnership with the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans). Together they run the LINK Express, the express bus connection between Montpelier and Burlington. GMTA is a full service public transportation provider offering fixed route bus service, deviated fixed route bus service, demand response bus service, commuter routes, ridematch, shopping shuttles, Medicaid transportation, transportation services for the elderly and the disabled and a ridesharing program.

    ermont Transit, based out of Burlington, operates an interstate bus service and has a transit station on Taylor Street in Montpelier's downtown.

    Capital Shuttle

    The Capital Shuttle operated through Green Mountain Transit Agency will be starting on January 8, 2008 for the start of the new Legislative season.   The shuttle service operates free of charge Tuesday through Friday within the downtown Montpelier area.   The National Life Building, North Entrance Lobby will be served every 10 minutes starting at 7:25 am with the last stop at 5:46 pm.  Monday service will be added the week of April 24th.
