The existing playground was in need of significant repairs and replacement of several structures. The project included removal of arsenic-containing wood equipment and replacement with a structure that is compliant with current health, safety and accessibility standards.

The School District received a Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant. The LWCF grant is a federally funded program that is administered by the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation. The grant covered 50% of the
project cost.

This playground project has been planned for several years and met with broad support from the Parent's Group, School Administration, and neighbors. The community's portion of this grant was voted on in March as part of the School's Capital Improvement Budget.
