The MCJC sponsors special events that highlight the work of local and national/international restorative justice practitioners.
"Dominic Barter's workshop was probably
the most valuable workshop I have ever attended
(and at age 56, I've been to quite a few)."
"What a great day!
It makes me want to be more creative in what I do!"
The MCJC offers its services to manage potential or actual public conflicts by designing processes to disseminate accurate, unbiased information and by offering neutral facilitation of structured dialogue. The MCJC trains and supervises volunteer service providers in conferencing, mediation, and Reparative Board processes.
Meetings
We have six
Reparative Board meetings a month, where trained volunteers meet with people who have been sentenced to reparative probation and their victims to talk about what happened, identify who was harmed and how, and collaboratively create an agreement to make amends and not reoffend. Meetings are open to the public. Click
here for the Reparative Board meeting schedule.
The
Citizen Advisory Board meets the
third Tuesday of January, March, May, June, September and November. Meetings are open to the public; call 223-9606 to confirm meeting time and place.
Trainings
The MCJC offers specific training for volunteers, delivers
conflict resolution training for a variety of audiences, and organizes presentations for the community on topics related to crime and conflict. There are no trainings scheduled at this time.
Events
The Montpelier Community Justice Center, in partnership with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library, the Montpelier Police Department, the Washington County Domestic Violence Coordinated Community Response Team, Department of Corrections, the Vermont Victim Impact Panel Program, and other community organizations presents a
FREE, informative series featuring films, lectures, and compelling stories on topics we all need to understand. Domestic and sexual violence, underage drinking, driving under the influence and other crimes happen in our community every day. This series will help you learn more about the reality, the risks, and the possibilities for healing and change after an offense has occurred.
All programs are free and open to the public at the Kellogg-Hubbard Library from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.
Thursday, May 13, 2010 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm
The Montpelier Community Justice Center presents

This program features a live demonstration of a mediation and presentations by local mediators describing the breadth of services they offer. This is an excellent opportunity to see what mediation can do for you if you are facing a difficult conversation or conflicts with family, coworkers, or neighbors.
