    The Conservation Commission consists of seven members and three alternates appointed by the City Council for terms ranging from one to four years.   Its duties are to carry out the goal of the City Master Plan to "preserve, enhance, and maintain the natural; the integration of built and natural settings; the special areas; and the high level of environmental quality which make Montpelier unique" and to inventory and advise the Planning Commission, the Development Review Board, and the City Council concerning the protection of natural features and environmental quality.

    Schedule of Meetings

    The Conservation Commission generally meets on the second Thursdays of the month, 7:00 PM in Montpelier City Hall, 39 Main Street. The Commission may also schedule special meetings, subcommittee meetings, or workshops in addition to its regular schedule. Regular and special meetings can be found on the Calendar of Events page.

    All meeting spaces are handicapped accessible.

    This report was produced by the Montpelier River Corridor Restoration Committee in July 2002. The plan grew out of recognition that the Winooski River and its tributaries require a long-range vision and consistent attention. Implementation of these recommendations should help to reduce riverbank erosion, mitigate threats of flooding, and fulfill the river's potential as an outstanding natural resource.
