The Montpelier Conservation Commission invites members of the City Council, the Montpelier Department of Public Works and the general public to a presentation by U-32 Marine and Fresh Water Biology class on the results of their study of chloride levels in snow banks in the Montpelier area. A representative from the VTrans environmental section will discuss alternatives that can help ameliorate the effects of road salts on our riparian areas and streams.
The Commission would also like to facilitate a discussion about methods to mitigate damage caused by beavers on riparian plantings along the Main Stem of the Winooski, which might include lethal control (trapping). Representatives from the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Nature Conservancy have been invited.
