WARNING ARTICLES
Thursday, January 21, 2010, is the last date to file a petition signed by five percent of the voters to have an article placed on the warning (17 VSA 2642) for the March 2, 2010, Annual City Meeting.
INTERESTED CANDIDATES
A person who wishes to run as a candidate on the Annual City Meeting ballot for the City of Montpelier may pick up petitions at the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall. Petitions must be filed between January 21, 2010 and February 1, 2010. The following positions are up for election: A mayor for a term of two years; two auditors for an unexpired term of two years; one commissioner for the Green Mount Cemetery for a term of five years; one commissioner for the Green Mount Cemetery for an unexpired term of four year; one park commissioner for a term of five years; three school commissioners, each for a term of three years; one council member from each district, for a term of two years. Candidate information sheet and petition forms are available on the city’s web site under elections
There will be a meeting of the Board of Civil Authority on Monday, February 1, 2010, at 5:15 P.M., in the Council Chamber at City Hall, to draw lots for placement of candidates’ names on the ballot for the March 3, 2009, Annual City Meeting.
