Project Title:
Taylor Street Bridge Project

Project Description:
Rehabilitation of BR5 located on Taylor Street in Montpelier and crossing over the Winooski River serving as a connection between State Street (Bus Rte 2) on the north side of the river to Memorial Drive (US Rte 2) on the south side. Project consists of the rehabilitation of the superstructure, substructure repairs and reconstruction of the approaches, replacement of the deck surface, railings and guardrails, reconstruction of the roadway approaches, and replacement of the bridge suspended municipal water main.
Special Project Note: Bridge to be closed during construction. Temporary traffic control during bridge closure to consist of a traffic signal installed at the intersection of Taylor St / Governor Davis Avenue / State Street for peak traffic time operation.
Existing Condition:
The bridge is a steel “Parker” through truss constructed in 1929. It is located in the Montpelier Historic District and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Project is eligible for federal historic preservation funding assistance.
