Wastewater Treatment

The City's Wastewater System consists of:
  1. sewer collection system maintenance
  2. treatment
  3. sludge disposal
The Montpelier Wastewater Treatment Plant treats approximately 1.1 million gallons of sewage daily.

Daily operations include:
  • septage and leachate receiving
  • laboratory work
  • sludge pressing
  • de-watering
  • State reporting
  • facilities and grounds maintenance
...all of which are accomplished with five employees.

The Plant works in conjunction with the local Waste Management company and the Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District (CVSWMD) for sludge disposal.
