Montpelier Water Filtration Facility

The City of Montpelier distributes an average of 1 million gallons of water to Montpelier and Berlin residents each day.  Water Plant staff is responsible for oversight of the water supply, Berlin Pond, maintenance of the raw water transmission line from Pond to Plant, and operation and maintenance of the Water Plant buildings and grounds.  The Chief Operator and two Plant Operators are State of Vermont certified Water System Operators,  and are continuously monitoring water quality through laboratory analysis, use trends, and source protection inspections.

To see a graphic representation of "Where Our Water Comes From", visit the upper hallway of City Hall, where artists Carolyn Shapiro and Delia Robinson have created a mural around the water fountain, and enjoy the historical documents and photographs in the artists' showcase.
