Dogs:

Current Park Canine Code of Conduct
   Do NOT allow your dog to charge on others, or jump on them, whether they are friendly or not
   Dogs must have their rabies vaccinations up to date.   
   Assume others do not want to interact with your dog (if there is ANY doubt)
   Scoop the poop  (remove poop) from trail, meadows or other  traveled areas. (Understand that you will miss your  dog’s  “movement” at least occasionally, so help take care of others.)

The Montpelier Dog Ordinance states that dogs must "be under control at all times". Under "control" means, in the park at least, that with voice command the dog will immediately return to the owner when called, making it possible to prevent dogs from charging others as well as preventing them from harassing wildlife. Otherwise the dog should be on a leash in the parks.

Bicycles:
Bikes are NOT allowed on any trails in Hubbard Park. In Hubbard Park bicycles can be ridden on all roads, whether they are open or closed to motor vehicles (Except during mud season).
There is one trail in the North Branch River Park that biking is allowed on. The trailhead is on Cummings Street on the right about one hundred yards before the end of the road. Biking is limited in the park because of trail user conflicts. The parks have a history of more passive uses. For example ten walkers may never see each other since they travel at the same rate. One biker may pass all ten and each of them may be alarmed at the speed of which they are approached. An important goal for park use is a safe and hopefully peaceful retreat.

Parking and Vehicles:
Parking is only allowed in designated parking areas in the park. Vehicles are not allowed in the park during mud season. Mud season is weather dependent but is generally in late March and early April. 

Fires:
Fires are allowed in designated fire places around the park. Cutting or harvesting of wood in the park is prohibited. Gathering fallen or dead branches is allowed for fire pit or cook fires

Hunting:
Sec. 11-502. DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS OR WEAPONS IN ANY CITY PARK.
The discharge of a revolver, pistol, rifle, shotgun, air rifle, BB gun, arrow from a bow, or a similar
firearm or weapon within the limits of Hubbard Park, North Branch River Park or any city park is not
permitted without written permission of the Police and Parks Departments.

Camping:
There is no camping allowed in any city park in Montpelier.
Take only pictures.... Leave only foot prints.

Skiing:
All of the ski trails in Montpelier Parks are multi-use. Please be respectful and aware of other trail users. Trails that are not groomed may be steep or have hazards that are thinly covered. Use caution when exploring non groomed areas of the park. 

Shelter Reservations and Use:
Visitors are welcome to use shelters without making a reservation, however people with a reservation will have priority.
Shelter reservation is free to Montpelier residents. Non-Residents can reserve a shelter for an event or a group for a fee (outlined below).

To make a reservation call the park office at (802) 223-7335. Leave a message with name, contact number, and date for reservation.

Groups of over 50 people must submit a Group Permission Form to the Parks Commission at least six weeks before the requested date. The Parks Commission will review the information at its monthly meeting and notify the group. Larger groups are often required to rent and provide a port-a-potty.
Reservations are limited to a 4 hour block of time.
Reservations are posted on the shelter the morning of the event

Groups of 25-100: $50 reservation fee (Group Permission Form required for over 50 people)
