Projects: Downtown Traffic & Circulation Simulation NOTE: This project has been completed. This page exists for archival purposes. Are you concerned about traffic congestion in the downtown and how future development in and around Montpelier might affect it? Are there tools we can use to improve traffic flow and alleviate congestion? What might be the traffic impacts of a parking structure built somewhere in the downtown? These and other questions were explored through a simulation study funded jointly by the City of Montpelier, Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission, and the State of Vermont. Wilbur Smith Associates was hired on July 2, 2003 to develop a traffic and circulation model of the downtown that allows us to plug in various development scenarios and test the results. On Wednesday, October 29, 2003, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., in Montpelier City Hall, a public meeting was held to discuss the Downtown Montpelier Traffic and Circulation Micro-Simulation Study. Click HERE to see the agenda that was posted for this meeting. The main purpose of this kick-off meeting was to introduce the project to the public, present the model, get feedback to see if the model accurately reflected existing conditions, and review some of the scenarios that were to be tested. A follow-up public meeting to present the results will be scheduled after the scenarios have been developed and the final report has been completed. The Draft Final Report will be available on this page soon. For more information, contact:
