Hello Park West Neighbors!
We had a great neighborhood party in Hubbard Park today - thanks so much to Jean Jolley and all her assistants for organizing it. We had over 50 people attend, lots of activities for kids, great food, an exhibit from the Forest Service, and even test rides on an electric bicycle.
To improve communication in the neighborhood, we're setting up an e-mail listserv, which means that we can post messages to one address and the message will go to all the neighbors who are on the list. You need to click a link in this message to be part of it, so be sure to do it - it only takes a second.
For the time being, I will moderate the listserv, so that no inappropriate messages go through. In general, the other neighborhoods that use e-mail listservs allow messages for the general benefit (like free zucchinis available at your house), announcements of local events, and occasional advocacy messages for neighborhood issues. Messages that are not appropriate include: chain letters, jokes, religious or partisan messages, junk mail, and other generally annoying notes.
Anyway, the city's new web site will be available soon, and this will also give our neighborhood our own web page. The neighborhood leaders will receive a training on how to add material to the site. There are two kinds of pages that are possible - public pages and password protected pages. We could have a neighborhood directory, babysitter listings, and other more private information on the password protected pages, and do things like items for sale and neighborhood events on the public ones. Let me know if you have any ideas about the Park West web site.
Cheers, Gwen.
