The Board of Abatement is the only body authorized to abate any or all of the property taxes assessed by the city. The conditions under which the Board may grant an abatement are regulated by the State, click here for more information.
The Board of Abatement is comprised of the Justices of the Peace, the City Councilors, and the City Clerk and Treasurer. The Board meets as needed at City Hall to hear tax abatements.

City of Montpelier Board of Abatement Hearing
In accordance with the Charter of the City of Montpelier, the Board of Abatement for the City of Montpelier will be meeting on October 13 2022 at 5:15PM in the City Council Chambers of the Montpelier City Hall.
APPLICANTS SHOULD APPEAR AND BE READY TO PRESENT THEIR EVIDENCE AT THE DATE AND TIME SET FORTH. IF AN APPLICANT (OR REPRESENTATIVE OF THE APPLICANT) FAILS TO APPEAR AT THE HEARING, THE ABATEMENT REQUEST WILL BE DECIDED ON THE BASIS OF THE INFORMATION SUBMITTED.
