The Recreation Center as it currently exists is not accessible to the greater public and has space that is under-utilized. The City has hired an architect firm, BreadLoaf to give the Montpelier City council renovation option packages that could create an accessible, useful, and fully utilized Recreation Center. Please see the below presentations the architects have given to the Council to date, and note that all included project costs are estimates, and the council will need to determine what package best fits budgetary and community needs.
In the fall of 2018, the City hired a consultant to do a Community Survey to assess the recreational needs of Montpelier residents and whether those needs would be best met by upgrading or building new facilities. The current ongoing Renovation Options align with the Community Survey’s findings that there is community support for upgrading existing Recreation Center.
