Blanchard Lot
The Blanchard Lot is a City-owned, 53,300 square feet +/-, metered lot currently providing parking for 97 vehicles, including reserved spaces. This lot is also relied upon by the adjacent church. Four points of vehicular access to both lots are available from Main Street and 1 from East State Street. Primary access to the Blanchard Lot is by a 2-lane, 2-way municipal street (Blanchard Court) on the south side of City Hall, adjacent to the Rite-Aid building. Two 1-lane, but 2-way, alleys on each side of the Legion building also provide direct vehicular access to the Blanchard Lot. The City has a deeded right-of-way for one of the alleys. Concern about the suitability for increased reliance of the alleys has been expressed
Pitkin Lot
The Pitkin Lot is a City-owned, 34,000 square feet +/-, metered lot currently providing parking for 79 vehicles. A number of spaces are reserved for staff and patrons of the Vermont Center for Independent Living (VCIL). A 2-way vehicular municipal street (Pitkin Court) between the north side of City Hall and the Fire Station provides primary access to the Pitkin Court Parking Lot, as well as secondary access to the Blanchard Lot. A 2-lane, 2-way, municipal street next to the Vermont Center for Independent Living (VCIL) building known as Harry Sheridan Avenue off of East State Street provides access to Pitkin Court and, indirectly, to the Blanchard Lot.
In addition to sharing the vehicular accessways, pedestrians currently may access the Blanchard Lot from the church-owned sidewalk from Barre Street and the Pitkin Lot from what is known as the Blanchard Alley.
