The Community Services Department provides for the health and wellbeing of Montpelier residents and visitors by offering cultural, recreational, social, and outdoor opportunities for all people of all ages.

Current Openings

MYCC Crew Leader

  • 32-hour per week position (mid June - mid Aug.). Montpelier Youth Conservation Corps (MYCC) is a youth development program run by Parks & Trees in collaboration with local high schools. We strive to provide meaningful work experiences by engaging high schoolers with important conservation projects in the community. Crew Leaders will supervise a crew of 6-8, and work alongside our site leaders to set expectations, be a mentor, model a good work ethic, and facilitate reflection activities. Crew leaders will be paired with a “Site Leader” who will facilitate the work projects. Projects include trail work, bridge building, managing invasive species, working on the FEAST Farm, and much more. No experience in the above activities is required, just a willingness to learn. Wage $17 per hour.

Seasonal Staff

Seasonal Parks/Recreation Maintenance Staff

  • $13.50/hr. Mow grass, drive tractors, maintain sports fields, keep parks clean and more. Busy, hands-on, physical work that requires some heavy lifting.

Summer Camp Staff

  • $13.50/hr. Primary caregivers for campers; responsible for planning, teaching, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their days.

Pool Lifeguards

  • $13.50/hr. Responsible for the health and safety of those using the City pool. Observe swimmers, enforce regulations, prevent accidents, and other duties as assigned, including customer service and cleaning.

Pool Clerks

  • $12.55/hr. Responsible for taking admission fees, running concession stand, selling swim passes, making other financial transactions and maintaining safety, including cleaning.
