Nina Thompson, the Community Outreach Coordinator for Vermont Ethics Network, will offer a presentation about the whys and hows of advance care planning (ACP). ACP is a process to help a person, in advance of injury, serious illness, or catastrophic event to think about and plan for future medical decisions should they become unable to speak for themselves.
Advance Directive forms will be provided and the following topics will be addressed:
- What is medical decision making?
- Why is it important for every adult to complete an advance directive?
- What advance directive for is right for me?
- Whom should I pick to be my Health Care Agent?
- How do I make decisions now about unknown future medical situations?
- How do I register my Advance Directive?
- What is a DNR/COLST?
There will be ample time for Q&A at the end of the presentation!

Educator Harris Webster, will present a case for dealing with the ills of our world by limiting the growth of "stuff" and expanding the growth of "non-stuff" using a new ecological- and humanistic-based type of economics.
Osher Lectures occur in the MSAC Community Room on the 1st floor. Brown bag lunch at 12:30 pm is optional.

Montpelier students invite the community to join them in a magical evening lantern parade and celebration. With festive live music of samba band Sambalucada, students will carry handmade lanterns through the wintry streets from Union Elementary to the State House lawn. The short and sweet finale at the State House lawn will include free hot cocoa and cider, doughnuts and a dance performance.
